Welcome

The Visionary Foundation Inc was formed in January 2000 from the perceived lack of support and cohesion of spiritual & holistic practitioners in the Geelong area. As a result of ongoing conversations between five of these like minded practitioners, it was decided to form an umbrella support group to assist and promote those who previously had to go it alone.

Over time the Foundation attracted a solid group of tarot readers, masseurs, reiki practitioners, counsellors, astrologers, phsychic mediums, colour therapists, yoga devotees and several retailers who provided resources to these specialists.

Support for these individuals was given in the form of discussion groups in which one of the available modalities was highlighted and shared with other therapists.  As more and more professionals joined the Foundation and attended these discussion groups, it was recognised that within the Greater Geelong area there were just as many and just as professional practitioners and therapists as there were in Melbourne.  The desire now was to promote our own.

Promotion came through the concept of Monthly Talks.  A member of the Foundation was invited to present their speciality area to the general public – offering the practitioner an avenue for self promotion and the public an opportunity to recognise the wealth of knowledge and expertise that was here in our own backyard.

Through some wonderful contacts and members it was eventually decided that Geelong would host their own version of the Mind Body Spirit Festival.  At first it was all hard work to again convince the locals that our geographical area held the same level of expertise as those working and showcasing their specialities at the larger festivals in the major cities around Australia.

The Inner Peace Festival was born in May 2005 and with the support of the Vines Road Community Centre who kindly worked closely with the Foundation, was able to entice the locals to our own unique Festival.  Over time this event has grown to attract over seventy stallholders and readers and is attended by over seven hundred people.

The monthly talks and the Inner Peace Festival remain the two highlights of the Visionary Foundation.  They continue to support local practitioners and to service the general public with alternative forms of healing and therapy.

The Visionary Foundation is also responsible for these two other forms of promotion and support:

The annual Holistic Practitioners Guide is a compilation of the many practising therapists in and around the Geelong area.  The guide has grown to the point whereby over 3000 copies are now distributed around the State of Victoria.  This is our ultimate endorsement of our local practitioner members.

A newsletter is published and emailed on a monthly basis.  The newsletter serves to advertise the events organised by the Foundation but also another opportunity for individual practitioners to promote themselves and their services.

The Foundation has now come of age with the development of a new interactive website.  The current committee is truly excited to be coming into the technology age – at last.

As the Foundation grew from small to very large numbers – it became apparent that the group should formalise its existence.  Along with a mission statement, the drawing up of agreements, the purchasing of insurance was the creation a logo.  One of the original founding members of the Foundation is responsible for our logo and gave this explanation for its design:

The Star and the Double Halo

The star: The six-pointed star is a symbol of birth and the beginning of earthly life. It is symbolic of the spark of illumination that shines within everyone. The star will always be a guiding light helping people to find their way. This is also a symbol of hope, giving everyone the chance to start over.

The Double Halo: The halo is associated with the divine, representing the spiritual strength within humanity. The halo is the energy source that surrounds all life on the planet, protecting it. The circle has long been a symbol of infinity.

The totality of the symbol represents an illuminated life, bringing hope, strength, inspiration, beauty and peace to the world.
